In the North the states have a common border with Canada. In the south it borders on Mexico.
Nearly 239 million people live there. Most of them are townspeople. The nature population is only about 1 million Indians of different tribes. As a result of immigration, now there are more than 25 million British Americans, about 23 million African Americans, many people from the Middle East. The official language of the United States is English.
The United States of America as a country consist of fifty states and the District of Columbia. The District of Columbia is not a part of any state. It is interesting to note that Washington, the capital of the U.S.A. consists of three parts: the District of Columbia, a part of the state Maryland and a part of the state of Virginia. Besides, do not mix up the capital Washington with the state of Washington which is located in the north-west of the country.
