Туристический бизнес - одна из наиболее быстро развивающихся отраслей мирового хозяйства. По некоторым оценкам, международный туризм входит в число трех крупнейших экспортных отраслей, уступая нефтедобывающей промышленности и автомобилестроению.
Всемирный совет по путешествиям и туризму, промышленная группа со штаб-квартирой в Лондоне оценивают экономическую деятельность в области путешествий и туризма на уровне 4 трлн. долл., то есть приблизительно 11% валового мирового продукта, что делает ее самой крупной отраслью в мировой экономике.
Современные доходы от туризма оценивают в триллионы долларов США, что сопоставимо с ВНП наиболее развитых стран мира.
Наибольшие доходы от туризма в ВНП имеют такие страны как Австрия (8%), Испания (5,8%), Швейцария (5,2%).
По темпам развития туризма выдел яются Китай, Мексика, США. Вместе с тем в некоторых странах доходы от туризма являются определяющей статьей ВНП: Бермудские острова - 34,7%, Сейшельские острова - 27,4%, Антигуа - 58,5%, Багамы - 52,1%. По статистике в 49 наименее развитых странах мира туризм занимает второе место после нефти в качестве источника поступлений в иностранной валюте [8].
Страны, как правило, способствуют развитию въездного туризма, так как с ним связан значительный приток валюты в страну и мультипликативный эффект для развития экономики и благодаря туризму - обслуживающей и транспортной инфраструктуры.
Кроме того, туризм может стать фактором развития отсталых и депрессивных районов, малых и средних исторически значимых городов, что особенно важно для России.
Первая пятерка стран-экспортеров туристов (США, Германия, Франция, Япония, Великобритания) дает мировому туризму, по некоторым оценкам, более 50% всех поступлений. Это очень высокая концентрация капитала по сравнению с другими рынками и секторами экономики. В этих условиях можно говорить, что именно борьба за туристов этих стран определяет конкуренцию на туристическом рынке.
Новейшие индустриальные экономики Южной Кореи, Сянгана, Тайваня и Сингапура, а также стран Юго-Восточной Азии, включая Таиланд, Малайзию и Индонезию, способны поддержать сильный экономический рост, в результате которого развивается средний класс - буржуазия. Оплачиваемое время отдыха и возрастающий доход этого класса расходуются, в частности, на международные путешествия.
Таким образом, формируются новые туристические направления, например, страны Юго-Восточной Азии - Австралия.
Проводимые в России экономические реформы открыли возможности для частного предпринимательства. Снята государственная монополия на многие виды деятельности, в том числе и на международный туризм.
Туризм в России может стать фактором регионального развития, в частности, аграрных, депрессивных, пионерных районов, малых и средних древнерусских городов. В нашей стране представляется также важным совмещать развитие перспективного в международном плане экологического туризма с проблемами развития природоохранных территорий и решением экологических проблем.
Цель выявить значение туризма для развития мировой экономики.
Задачи:

- подготовить рекомендации по развитию туризма в экономике России.
Объект исследования – тенденции развития туризма.
